Custom fabrication

Custom made metal planters

Designed, fabricated and installed to your exact sizes — Corten, powder-coated steel and aluminium planters for terraces, podiums, rooftops and public realm across the UK.

What custom actually means here

Made to your exact dimensions

Nothing is pulled from a catalogue. Every planter is drawn to the millimetre for the space it sits in — length, depth, taper, radius, upstand height — so runs finish flush against walls, balustrades and level changes instead of leaving awkward gaps.

Corten, powder-coated steel or aluminium

Corten weathering steel for a warm self-finishing patina. Powder-coated mild steel for an exact RAL and maximum rigidity. Marine-grade aluminium where podium loading is tight or the site is coastal. Stainless where a brushed architectural face is wanted.

Detailed to keep planting alive

Liners, a ventilated cavity, a drainage layer and base outlets are designed in from the start, with concealed irrigation feeds routed inside the fabrication. Soil volume is set by what has to grow, not by what is convenient to build.

Seating, screens and trellis integrated

Hardwood seat tops, slatted screens, trellis frames, lighting cable routes and fixings are built into the unit rather than bolted on afterwards, so nothing visible spoils the line.

Fabricated in our own workshop

Shop drawings go out for sign-off, then fabrication typically runs six to eight weeks. Panels up to three metres in a single piece, with joints designed to absorb expansion on longer runs.

Installed by our own specialist team

We are not just a supplier. Our specialist installers deliver in sections sized to the actual access route, level and fix on site, and hand over with RAMS and a ten-year structural warranty. Supply-only is available where the main contractor prefers to fix.

Custom planter questions

How much do custom made metal planters cost?
Cost is driven by material, size, finish and quantity rather than a per-unit list price. A run of powder-coated steel troughs for a terrace sits well below a set of deep Corten tree pits with integrated seating. Send drawings or rough sizes and we will price the scheme properly.
What is the lead time?
Around six to eight weeks from approved shop drawings to delivery for most schemes, with installation scheduled around the site programme. Larger phased projects are staged to match the build.
Can you match a specific RAL colour?
Yes. Powder coating is done to any RAL, in matte, satin or textured finish, and the same colour can be held consistently across later phases of the same development.
Do custom metal planters rust?
Powder-coated steel and aluminium do not rust in normal use — the coating and the internal liner keep water off the substrate. Corten develops a stable oxide patina by design, which protects the steel underneath rather than eating it.
Do you work outside London?
Yes. Most work is in London and the South East, but we fabricate and install nationwide, including Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Can you work from architectural drawings?
That is the usual route. Send landscape or architectural drawings and we will produce shop drawings for sign-off, coordinated with drainage, waterproofing and structural loading.
